Booking Through Thursday: Reviews

Do you read book reviews? Whose do you trust? Do they affect your reading habits? Your buying habits?

1) I frequently read book reviews from other book bloggers just to get an idea of how they phrase and form their reviews.
2) I trust book reviews that come from well-established book bloggers because they most likely do not have a conflict of interest with the author (there are many reviews posted in Amazon that come from people related to the author).
3) Not really. A negative or positive opinion is what it is: an opinion. I’d rather decide on whether I want a book based on the synopsis than based just solely on another person’s opinion. But of course, a little consideration will be given to the review.
4) Same as above.

  2. I tend to go more by synopsis than reviews too but I do enjoy reading reviews.

    • Reviews are pretty interesting sometimes! I especially like reading reviews that are really different from mine as it helps me view the book in another person’s perspective/point of view. Read and commented at your post!

  3. i usually won’t pay alot of attention to a review. i am a person that likes to form my own opinion and what one person disliked i may love and vice versa. however if i see that most of the reviews on a book are negative i may pass it by and decide not to read it.
